I need your help and want to give you my
help.
Let me explain.
I want to build a website to promote
artistic collaboration as a positive creative force to ensure that the ethical
artists I love and respect survive and thrive in the age of corporate commerce.
Further I want to build bridges, both
metaphysical and financial, between artists from economically disadvantaged cultures
and artists and art supporters in the richer westernized cultures. Artist exchanges, hosting, residencies,
online art sales are just a few of the possibilities.
Every artist needs art related income and
most of us have the requisite facilities to increase our incomes quite easily.
What many of us do not have is organization
and marketing know-how. I am no exception.
But I am being subsidized by the Department
of Education to get together a website that will promote artists, market art
and give artists from NZ, Australia and Vietnam opportunities for art related
income.
I will call my site VANZAC – Vietnam,
Australia, New Zealand, Artist Collaborative. I have just registered the
address VANZAC.com and have also registered ARTEZEN GALLERY.com
I am being very picky with my Members
list. I want it to only include artists
(and art supporters) I love, respect and trust.
It will take me some months (perhaps many)
to build the webpage (a huge learning curve) so think of it as an invitation to
be part of the first exhibit at a gallery that is still only on the drawing
board.
Think of it as a free advertising platform
for you as an artist. Think of it as an artists connective where because of
your interaction with an artist in another country you get hosted by him/her in
a foreign city. Think of it as a site where hobby artists can be directed to paying
art residency opportunities in your home/studio.
Yes I want the opportunity to sell some of
your art but unlike a physical gallery you retain possession of the art until
it sells. And yes just like a gallery if
I sell it I will take a 25% fee. Selling your and my art and providing
opportunities for all of us to travel and work together is my dream.
